Mix it Up!

After its stops in Rome, New York, and Brussels, Hermès has brought the “Silk Mix”, a temporary installation inspired by the atmosphere of a vinyl record store, to a special pop-up in Munich, located at the Brienner Straße 12.  

The boutique’s walls are covered with acoustic foam like a recording studio. At the center of the space, crates of records are sorted into various French music genres, each corresponding to songs played at past Hermès men’s shows.

Hermès creative directors Véronique Nichanian and Christophe Goineautors partnered with Thierry Planelle, an artistic director who has mixed playlists for every Hermès men’s show over the past 15 years — to combine their love of music in a showcase of the maison’s signature silk scarves.

There is a clear connection between the silk motives and the music. More then 282 Hermès scarves and ties hang alongside fashion photographs that have been reimagined as nostalgic ’70s album covers. All created by the men's silk creative director - Christophe Goineautors.

The installation opened last Wednesday at a cocktail party hosted in the store, with live music by indie-rock band "Tristesse Contemporaine" among the high-profile guests. Sipping fruity cocktails and flipping through the records, while DJ Patrick Vidal played alternative music from previous Hermès sets.
