Highlights from London

British designer James Long brought Iceberg from Milan to his home turf, London to present his collection for ICEBERG, in the 3 years since his appointment as Creative Director the label has seen  a huge resurgence.  With SS19 Long looked to the racing world of Formula 1 for inspiration, with co-ed looks that heavily referenced the motorsport. 

The 44 looks were bold with punches of neon green and pinks accompanied with heavy branding and touches of the racing inspire Checkerboard print, completed with technical trainers. 

LFWM darling Daniel W Fletcher has again shown huge progress in the short few years he's been in the London menswear scene, going from guerrilla demonstrations, to on schedule presentations to now a full runway show, one of the most anticipated during the London schedule.

Looks were presented against a soundtrack of DJ Tiesto tracks with the collection of masculine looks that played with femininity. Shorts and flowing trousers offered classic staples as well as beautiful overcoats and more statement making halter tops. 

The pioneer of ethical and environmentally conscious fashion presented his 'React Now' collection, a call to arms to the public inspired by the melting ice caps and effects of global climate change.  Using NASA satellite photography to show the effects that warming climate is having on glaciers, the images are used in print form on various garments in the near all white collection with a few pops of bold orange looks.

His 4 R manta of REMADE, REDUCED, RECYCLED, RAEBURN is again used as text form for strap details and there is an introduction of the new label mascot, the panda which comes in print and as a backpack. Looks were completed with a partnership with Timberland for footwear. 

Guests to the A Cold Wall show were welcomed with a vacuum packed pair of goggles and face mask upon entering the Old Truman Brewery show space in East London, a sign of things to come.The brand's Creative Director Samuel Ross presented his collection titled 'Human. Form. Structure' to attendee's that included Virgil Abloh, sat front row to watch his protégé's latest line.

The theatrically staged show comprised 28 string looks of flowing streetwear. Colours were varied with particular highlights being his outerwear, including a take on the classic trench and canary yellow biker. 

Touted by HYPEBEAST as Sweden's must know designer the young Swede made his solo runway show debut during LFWM with a collection exploring masculinity, values and nostalgia.  The boyish vibe collecting was inspired by 1434 Arnolfini Portrait by artist Jan van Eyck, in particular the draping of the fabrics. 

Götesson experimented with draping of different fabrics for the collection that heavily referenced his childhood in the small town of Björksnäs, Sweden.  Highlights include a flowing grey overcoat teamed up with a knitted top with design that exposed flesh and innovative bags that could transform into trench coats.  Götesson collaborated with Husam El-Odeh on suspenders and jewels and Helen Kirkum on footwear. 

Titled 'The Badge of an Original' Barbour international's SS19 collection celebrated its long heritage since its first racing suit launched , It was designed and named after the 1936 International Six Day Trials (ISDT), the same trials that actor Steve McQueen would later compete in wearing Barbour International in 1964.

The brand has a rich racing history but in recent years have provided looks that could also be worn more casually and in everyday life yet still retaining the brand's high quality craftsmanship.  During its LFWM presentation the brand showed its Barbour International Originals and Sport collections, both featuring bold hues of black, white and yellow alongside primary colours of red, green and blue.  Alongside garments footwear made its LFWM debut with a line of cupsole, runner and low profile sneakers.

Paris-Montreal based label 3.Paradis held one of the more interesting staged presentations during the schedule with Creative Director Emeric Tchatchoua teaming up for a collaboration with label PONY.  A cement block was centre with models surrounding it and bound to it by wires white newspapers covered the floor.

Muted greys and blacks were paired with bold tones of red and blues for a smarter tailored take on streetwear, with appealing use of branding and layering with more than one appearance by the bucket hat.

Khalid Al Qasimi continued his exploration of the urban nomad with a collection that travels across the shores of Northern Africa. Shapes were flowing and beautifully layered, inspired by editorials from the 1980s and the Marrakech visuals of photographer Aldo Fallai.

Military and Khaki tones dominated with pops of orange and crisp whites in a collection that was filled with treasures and flowing looks, the khaki all over suit was a particular favourite, giving off major explorer vibes.. Collaborations of the season included trainers with Rombaut and eyewear from Komono, all in custom colours.
