Like every piece in the permanent collection, the Zip Jacket and Zip Vest underwent rigorous testing before re-stocking, as ASKET continually looks for ways to improve garments with each round of production.

To further improve the technical capabilities of the garments, the ASKET design team decided to change the outer fabric of both garments from cotton to GRS-certified recycled nylon.
 

While the brand typically steers clear of synthetic materials, recycled nylon offers superior properties. Lightweight yet durable, the material gives garments enhanced properties of longevity, durability and technical performance.

Both garments are made from a smooth woven fabric of 100% recycled nylon with a fluorine-free water repellent treatment, low impact trims including recycled metal snaps and recycled sewing thread. The Zip Jacket and Zip Vest also feature 100% recycled post-consumer polyester insulation from Primaloft. The insulating material is water repellent, breathable, lightweight and exceeds the warmth-to-weight ratio of down. In other words, the complete cold weather benefit without the bulk.
 

Although man-made materials are not biodegradable, these recycled alternatives are developed from plastics already in the world and help turn waste into something useful. As an added bonus, recycled materials require less energy to produce than virgin fibers - when used properly - while saving waste from landfills and oceans when collected or recovered in cleanup projects.
